Heather Duke was invited as a featured author and storytime guest at Mayor Deegan's River City Readers Summer Kick-Off Event on June 8th. She shared her debut story, "Two Shoes" with event attendees. River City Readers hosts a citywide literacy challenge, distributes free books and backpacks, and encourages a love of learning among the children of Jacksonville.

Heather Duke discusses the inspiration behind her book "Two Shoes." She shares how she finds self-publishing unexpectedly fulfilling, but is still learning the ins and outs of the book marketing world. The conversation covers how children should be treated with dignity and respect as the unique creatures that that are.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS – Present Tense Coffee and Books is a cultural focal point. It's a welcoming home for bookworms and local authors. Last Saturday, the coffee house invited a dozen local authors to sign books and share their stories, including "Two Shoes" by Heather Duke.
